Glossary
API (Application Programming Interface)
A set of endpoints Lazr exposes so your ERP, WMS, e-commerce platform or custom app can push orders in, or pull rates, labels and tracking data out, without human clicks.
Accessorial Charge
Any extra fee applied on top of base freight rates, for example lift-gate service, residential delivery or waiting time.
Bill of Lading (BOL)
The legal contract between shipper and carrier for LTL or FTL freight. Lazr auto-generates a carrier-specific BOL each time you confirm an order.
Carrier
A company that physically transports the shipment such as FedEx, Purolator or a regional LTL provider. Lazr lets you mix your own contracted carriers with 100 + pre-connected partners.
LTL (Less-Than-Truckload)
Freight that doesn’t fill a full trailer. Lazr’s rating engine compares LTL options alongside parcel and other modes in one screen.
Marketplace (Rate-Comparison View)
Lazr’s Travel industry-style screen where you enter shipment details once and instantly compare prices, transit times and service levels across every connected carrier.
Pricing Intelligence
Lazr’s proprietary engine that ingests carrier APIs and paper tariffs, then surfaces the lowest compliant rate (or your preferred margin) in milliseconds.
Spot Quote
A one-off rate request for non-standard moves like oversized freight, hazmat, remote lanes, etc. Lazr sends the request to its network of 3PLs partners and returns live quotes for quick selection.
Tariff
A carrier’s full rate table (base charges, lanes, discounts, fuel surcharges and accessorial rules). Lazr parses each tariff so “all-in” pricing is reflected accurately at quote time.
Tracking Number / PRO
The unique identifier Lazr assigns (or retrieves from the carrier) to give you door-to-door visibility, status alerts and exception management inside the platform.
