Platforms & Features

Lazr is designed to support growing shipping volumes by scaling both operational workflows and user access.

Shippers can submit large batches of shipments programmatically through Lazr’s API or handle palletized and LTL loads directly through the UI. The same workflows support parcel, palletized freight, and standard LTL, allowing teams to manage higher volumes without switching tools or processes.

For palletized and high-velocity LTL shipments, Lazr can distribute a single shipment request across multiple participating carriers, returning available pricing and options quickly. This allows shipping teams to compare and book at scale without manual carrier outreach.

Lazr also removes operational bottlenecks as volume grows: teams can add users without license constraints, and both API-driven and UI-based workflows continue to perform as shipment counts increase.
In practice, this lets shippers grow volume—whether through more orders, more pallets, or more lanes, without increasing operational overhead.

Lazr supports a wide range of non-standard shipments through a combination of its marketplace and its extended 3PL network.

Lazr supports a wide range of non-standard shipments through a combination of its core marketplace and its extended network of 3PLs and specialized partners.

International shipments, standard customs workflows and freight coverage can be handled directly within the Lazr marketplace, with pricing and booking available through participating carriers and partners. Lazr is also introducing tools to further simplify customs preparation, including AI-powered HS code suggestions and landed cost estimation. These capabilities help teams classify products more quickly, prepare accurate commercial invoices and labels, estimate duties and taxes upfront, and reduce the risk of delays or rework, especially for exports to the U.S., Mexico, and overseas markets.

For hazardous materials, many common hazmat shipments are supported directly within the Lazr marketplace, with pricing and booking available through participating carriers. When hazmat requirements become more specialized—due to product classification, handling constraints, or service limitations—Lazr routes those shipments through its network of 3PLs and specialized providers to identify suitable, bookable options.

For other complex scenarios, such as oversized freight, temperature-controlled shipments, or certain advanced customs workflows, Lazr leverages its 3PL and partner network to match shipments with providers equipped to handle those requirements.

This hybrid approach allows shippers to manage both standard and complex shipments through a single platform, while ensuring each shipment is handled by the right carrier or service provider as requirements increase in complexity.

Lazr is built to scale in two ways: through its technology infrastructure and, more importantly, through the depth and diversity of its carrier network.

From a platform perspective, Lazr’s infrastructure is designed to handle sudden increases in rating, labeling, and tracking activity without degradation in performance. This ensures shippers can continue to quote and ship even during peak periods.

From a capacity standpoint, Lazr’s large and diversified carrier and 3PL network provides resilience when volumes surge or conditions change. During peak seasons, regional disruptions, or carrier constraints such as strikes or lane imbalances, Lazr can surface alternative carrier options across its network, helping shippers maintain continuity rather than relying on a single provider.

As operational complexity increases, Lazr’s network-driven model allows shippers to adapt by accessing additional capacity, service types, and routing options without needing to rebuild integrations or workflows.

In short, Lazr scales not just by processing more shipments but by giving shippers more options when capacity becomes constrained.

Parcel
Lazr provides instant pricing and booking for parcel shipments through a broad network of national and regional carriers. Rates are returned in real time, making parcel the most automated and immediate mode on the platform today.

LTL and Intermodal (Less-Than-Truckload)
For standard LTL shipments, Lazr delivers instant pricing from its carrier network, similar to parcel.
For more complex LTL use cases such as oversized freight, hazardous materials, or temperature-controlled shipments, Lazr searches across its network of 3PLs and specialized carriers to surface suitable, bookable options.

FTL (Full Truckload)
FTL shipments are supported through Lazr’s 3PL and specialized carrier network. Rather than relying solely on instant rates, Lazr evaluates available providers to identify appropriate, bookable options based on shipment requirements.

Air & Ocean Freight
These modes are supported today primarily through Lazr’s partner and 3PL ecosystem. For Parcel, Air is often the mode of services for Express shipments.

How coverage evolves
As volume, integrations, and carrier participation grow, more lanes, modes, and use cases move toward faster pricing and deeper platform-native workflows, while still supporting complex freight through partner networks.

Customers can rate-shop major parcel brands, FedEx, UPS, DHL, Purolator, Canada Post, and regional couriers like Midland in real time. LTL coverage spans Canada, the US, and Mexico, with coast-to-coast service in domestic Canada.

Lazr ingests carrier tariffs via API or file upload, so every quote reflects the latest base price and surcharge logic. Existing customer-specific contracts can also be uploaded alongside Lazr marketplace rates for true side-by-side comparisons.

Tracking milestones and cost data are centralized in one dashboard; transparency and traceability are core pillars of the platform’s design.

Integrations & Existing Ecosystem

Lazr integrates through a fully documented REST API that allows customers to connect rating, booking, labeling, and tracking into their existing ERP, WMS, or TMS environments. For most implementations, customers work with their own system integrators or internal development teams to build and maintain the connection.

Lazr provides comprehensive API documentation and supports those integrators throughout the implementation process. Once the integration is complete, no ongoing development is required for day-to-day shipping operations.

For teams that do not want to integrate immediately, Lazr also offers a web-based portal that allows users to manage shipments without any system integration.

Yes. Lazr is commonly used alongside existing systems during transition periods.

Shippers can begin using Lazr through its web-based portal while maintaining their current ERP, WMS, or TMS workflows. This allows teams to validate pricing, carrier coverage, and operational fit without disrupting existing processes.

When ready, Lazr can then be integrated via API into production systems, allowing a gradual transition rather than a full cutover. This phased approach helps reduce operational risk while giving teams flexibility in how and when they adopt Lazr.

Simply upload your contract files or connect via carrier API; Lazr stores them privately and shows “Your Rate” versus “Marketplace Rate” on every search.

Absolutely! Accounts for FedEx, UPS, DHL, GLS, Purolator, Canada Post, Midland and more can be linked in minutes, with instant rate-shop results.

Automation, Accuracy & Documentation

Once a shipment is booked, Lazr generates and returns the appropriate carrier label or bill of lading in real time for both marketplace and contract-based shipments.

For international shipments, Lazr also provides a commercial invoice generator to help shippers prepare required customs documentation. In addition, shippers can upload and attach their own documents—such as certificates, permits, or customer-specific paperwork—directly to each order, keeping all shipment-related documents in one place.

Document outputs follow carrier and service-specific requirements, and all generated files are available for review before use, helping teams catch issues early and maintain consistency across shipments.

Quotes pull live data from carrier APIs, including current accessorials and fuel. Because your own contracts can sit beside Lazr marketplace rates, you’ll see the exact tariff that will appear on the invoice.

Quoted rates pull live data from carrier APIs, including current base rates, fuel, and applicable accessorials. Because your own carrier contracts can sit alongside Lazr marketplace rates, the pricing shown reflects the same tariffs carriers use for final invoicing.

To ensure quotes remain as accurate as possible, shippers are responsible for providing correct shipment details, such as weight, dimensions, and required accessorials (for example, residential delivery). When shipment data aligns with carrier measurement and service requirements, post-shipment adjustments and surcharges are minimized.

Usability, Onboarding & Change Management

New users self-create an account in minutes; an onboarding agent reaches out the same day to help load carriers or connect APIs so you can quote and ship immediately.

Lazr is designed to simplify shipping for non-technical users, with a web-based platform that allows teams to book, manage, and monitor shipments without needing technical expertise or system integrations.

Operations teams have access to the tools they need to run day-to-day shipping efficiently, including shipment tracking, status dashboards, exception visibility, and actionable workflows to respond to delays or issues as they arise.

Finance teams can access reporting and analytics that help track shipping spend, carrier performance, and cost efficiency across shipments. These insights support auditing, budgeting, and ongoing optimization without requiring manual reconciliation.
By supporting different user roles within a single platform, Lazr enables cross-functional teams to work from the same source of shipping data while focusing on what matters most to their role.

Unlimited seats let you invite warehouse staff, finance analysts, and regional offices. Filters and shared dashboards make it easy to pick up a colleague’s work if someone is away.

Pricing, ROI & Business Value

Lazr’s pricing model is designed to scale with how shippers use the platform, keeping core functionality accessible while aligning costs with value.

Today, shippers can access Lazr’s marketplace and core shipping workflows without a subscription. Marketplace rates are shown upfront at quote time, allowing teams to ship without separate platform or licensing fees tied to volume.

When shippers use their own carrier contracts within Lazr, a transactional fee applies per shipment. This allows customers to leverage their negotiated rates while benefiting from Lazr’s rating, booking, and execution capabilities, with costs scaling predictably as shipment volume increases.

This combination of usage-based pricing and optional subscriptions ensures Lazr can scale efficiently with growing shipment volumes, larger teams, and more complex operations—without forcing customers into rigid pricing tiers.

Lazr is designed to make shipping costs clear and predictable. Any charges beyond the base freight rate such as fuel surcharges, applicable accessorials, and customs-related charges are included in the quote shown at booking time whenever the required shipment details are provided.

For international shipments, customs duties and taxes may be advanced on the shipper’s behalf. In these cases, Lazr applies a disbursement fee associated with passing through those duties and taxes. These charges are not clearly identified as part of the shipment cost as the customs charges are not currently calculated at checkout.

There are no hidden platform fees added after the fact. The total price displayed in the quote reflects known carrier and customs-related charges before booking, so customers can understand the full cost upfront.

To keep pricing accurate, customers should ensure shipment details such as weight, dimensions, declared value, and required accessorials (for example, residential delivery) are entered correctly. When shipment information aligns with carrier and customs requirements, unexpected post-shipment adjustments are minimized.

Most shippers cite lower transportation spend via rate-shopping, plus major time savings from eliminating multi-portal comparisons. All shipment data lives in one place, unlocking new analytics for finance and ops.

Compliance, Risk & Security

Lazr supports international shipping compliance by guiding shippers through required customs workflows and helping them prepare accurate documentation, while keeping responsibility and control with the shipper.

The platform provides tools such as commercial invoice generation, with additional capabilities coming soon including HS code assistance and landed cost estimation to help shippers supply the information carriers and customs authorities require. These features reduce guesswork, improve data quality, and help teams prepare shipments more efficiently especially at scale or across large product catalogs.

While Lazr is not a customs broker and does not make compliance decisions on behalf of shippers, it helps surface requirements, standardize inputs, and reduce common errors that lead to delays, holds, or rework. Shippers remain responsible for understanding their products, selecting the correct classifications, and ensuring all required documents and declarations are accurate and complete.

In short, Lazr simplifies the process and provides guardrails but compliance ultimately remains in the hands of the shipper, supported by clearer data and better tools.

Our platform is built on secure, cloud-based infrastructure designed with reliability and data protection in mind. Payments are processed by a PCI-DSS–compliant third-party payment processor that specializes in secure payment handling and adheres to strict industry standards. We continuously strengthen our security posture as our platform evolves.
